DUBAI, June 20 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday announced a government reshuffle and a landmark decision to integrate the country's national artificial intelligence (AI) system as an advisory member of the cabinet and all associated councils starting from January 2026.

"This move aims to support decision-making, provide real-time analysis, offer technical advice, and improve the efficiency of government policies across all sectors," UAE's Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum made the announcement in a post on social media platform X.

"The world is undergoing a comprehensive transformation -- scientifically, economically, and socially. Our goal is to prepare today for the coming decades and ensure lasting prosperity and a dignified life for future generations," Sheikh Mohammed added.

According to Sheikh Mohammed, the reshuffle also includes the establishment of a new Ministry of Foreign Trade, with Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi appointed as its minister. The Ministry of Economy will be renamed the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, to be led by Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri.

The UAE's federal government comprises the cabinet, which oversees the implementation of national policies. It currently includes 37 ministers, both ministers of state and those with full portfolios. ■
